harena asked: Silver! (i wanted to say lime or rainbow but i think i already know the answer to those.. hmm, actually maybe not the rainbow... but reasonably sure i know lime... but maybe you should tell me those too anyway >.>)

Silver (top three sources of inspiration): “Inspiration” usually blindsides me. Generally in the form of What If? questions, like “What if Harry got attacked by werewolves?” So, brain teasers, I guess. Mental exercises inspire me.

I’m not generally inspired by any specific thing. I don’t usually sit down to watch a movie and then suddenly I want to write. Nor do I get inspired by music, or books.

Actually, I’d even posit that (for me, at least) inspiration is a myth. I’d say that what strikes me as “inspiration” is just being excited about an idea.

Lime (what are some of the most prevalent themes in your work?): Um. Crapsack worlds. I think every universe I’ve written in so far has been a crapsack world of some kind or another.

Other than that, I’m not sure! I don’t usually write with any themes in mind, so if they do show up (as I’m sure they do), I don’t really notice them.

Rainbow (three favorite authors): This is a tricky one, because I don’t pay much attention to authors so much as I just read books that sound interesting. I suppose Douglas Adams needs to top the list, and Warren Ellis needs to be on there. I think I’ll put Sarah Rees Brennan on there, too, though I haven’t read as much of her stuff as I’d like, and mostly like her because of her hilarious online presence.

For this meme. If anyone else wants to ask one, feel free! My askbox is always open.
